About ReturnFast

One navigation history for a multi-app Mac workflow

ReturnFast is a native Swift menu-bar utility for people whose work moves between editors, browsers, terminals, Finder, communication tools, and other Mac apps.

The product idea: app switching answers “which app was recent?” Return Fast instead keeps an ordered trail so Back and Forward can answer “where was I?”

Why ReturnFast exists

A browser has a Back stack, but a workflow that crosses an editor, documentation tab, terminal, Finder window, and message does not share one. ReturnFast applies that familiar history model across applications while retaining deeper context where an app exposes it.

The result is deliberately narrow: global Back, Forward, a visible recent trail, and a detour return for interruptions. It is not a document sync service, browser extension, chat archive, or replacement for the apps it navigates.

Product principles

  • Local navigation data: captured locations remain in memory on the Mac and are not sent through license validation.
  • Honest restore levels: deep app adapters are documented separately from the window-level fallback.
  • Keyboard-first operation: Back, Forward, and detour actions have global shortcuts that can be changed.
  • Focused purchasing: ReturnFast is sold as a one-time license rather than a recurring subscription.
